The City of Huntsville completed a nine-month project to design and install wayfinding signage throughout the community. Not only have the residents told us how much they like it, the program was also recognized by the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC). A full overview of entries for the H-GAC 2016 Our Great Region Awards is available at http://ow.ly/nwnn30gfZjr Dr. Sherry McKibben, Director of Neighborhood Resources, submitted the local project for inclusion.
"It is wonderful when the community can collaborate on a project, see it come to fruition, and then have it showcased for the entire region in this way," said McKibben. "The wayfinding signage was one of the goals from the Harnessing Huntsville plan, a case study originally funded by H-GAC in 2013."
The Our Great Region Awards recognize outstanding projects in the H-GAC 13-county region that advance the goals and strategies outlined in the Our Great Region 2040 Plan, reads the Showcase introduction. The City's involvement in the Our Great Region process has been beneficial to Huntsville in providing guidance and support for this and other local projects.
