Unofficial City election returns are available on the City Secretary Elections page at HuntsvilleTX.gov/Elections. Totals are unofficial until canvassed by the City Council. The City contracts with Walker County for election services, so the Walker County Voter Registrar will oversee the process to complete a review of the remaining approximately 63 provisional election day ballots next week, following state timelines. Totals are subject to change until the City Council meets and completes its canvass of the results.
Unopposed incumbents Paul Davidhizar (At-large Position 1) and Clyde D. Loll (Position 3) will retain their seats, and Mari Montgomery was selected by voters for At-large Position 4. The City Charter Section 6.02 requires a candidate to receive a majority of all votes cast for a particular office, so a runoff election will be called for the At-large Position 2 race, in which Rico Rodriguez, Dee Howard, and William Bayne are candidates.
Also on the City ballots were 32 Charter amendments, all of which were approved by the voters, many with a 90% or greater approval. The amended Charter will be filed with the Texas Secretary of State's office.
