Dr. Wayne Barrett
is the Assistant Director of the School of Music at Sam Houston State University and the Associate Pastor for Music (part-time) at First Baptist Church, Huntsville. He and his wife, Sherri Barrett, have resided in Huntsville since 1992 and are the parents of three boys: Joshua, Andrew, and John. Wayne is a graduate of Frankfurt [Germany] American High School, Samford University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The University of Iowa. He is a published author, newspaper columnist, and composer whose recent work, “Make a Joyful Noise” was composed for the 20th anniversary of the Huntsville Children’s Choir. Wayne’s work and interests take him frequently to Hungary and other parts of Central Europe where he maintains ongoing academic and church-related involvements. His goals for governmental involvement are to advance the city’s service, accountability, and economic development.
