Our Purpose
City University is a Community Leadership and a city informational guide initiated by the Community Services Department to involve people at all levels of the community. Its mission and goals are to help citizens become informed of City services and procedures, learn how to access government and elected officials, and become willing to be involved in the community by serving on City boards and commissions. A broad range of programs, presentations, activities and discussions will be presented to strategically engage participants in achieving City University Goals.
Who
The City University will be comprised of no more than fifteen Huntsville citizens selected based on a volunteer basis. Participants will be selected to reflect the diversity of the Huntsville community. Participants will need to complete an application form and have residency in or work in Huntsville for at least 1 year. Participants will be asked to sign an agreement and commit to attending five of the six sessions throughout the term of City University.
When
The City University will meet for a 6 week period followed by a graduation. Future program dates are to be announced.
Where
The sessions will be held at various city facilities throughout the community, with the specifics to be provided at the orientation session. The orientation session will be at the City Hall in the conference room.
Fee
There will be no registration fee for the program. The City of Huntsville will cover all costs of the program including course materials and food for your convenience.
