Report A Code Complaint
Walk-Ins & Mail - You may come by our office to personally speak to a code enforcement officer, or file a written complaint by mail. The office is located at 448 S H 75 North, Huntsville, TX 77320. The office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. If you are a lessee, please provide a copy of your lease when reporting a complaint.
The Most Common Code Complaints

Overgrown vegetation – Grass & weeds over 10 inches in height (International Property Maintenance Code Section 302.4; amended Huntsville Code Section 9.02.03-9); Owners or occupants are given 7 days to bring their property into compliance. After 7 days, a citation may be issued and/or further action may be taken in order for the City of Huntsville to abate the nuisance and place a lien on the property.

Junk, Inoperable or abandoned vehicles - A junk vehicle is defined as a vehicle that is self-propelled, has an expired registration or inspection sticker and is wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, inoperable for more than 72 hours on the public right-of-way or inoperable for more than 30 consecutive days on private property. (International Property Maintenance Code Section 302.8; or as defined in Chapter 683 of the Texas Transportation Code.)

Substandard/Dilapidated structures – Any building considered unsafe due to deterioration, unsafe wiring, fire hazard, etc. Owners are given 30 days to repair, remove or demolish the structure. After 30 days, further legal action may be taken in order for the City of Huntsville to abate the nuisance and place; a lien on the property.

Trash, debris and/or over accumulation - Owners or occupants are given 7 days to bring their property into compliance. After 7 days, a citation may be issued, and/or further action may be taken in order for the City of Huntsville to abate the nuisance and place a lien on the property.
