The City of Huntsville, the seat of Walker County, is located in the piney woods and rolling hills of East Texas, approximately 70 miles north of Houston and 170 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 45. It is also conveniently located at the intersection of Texas Highway 30 (west to Bryan-College Station) and Highway 190 (east to Livingston).
