Thursday, June 9, 2022
Huntsville Public Library will host its 31st annual Lineage Society Workshop on Thursday, June 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend.
The workshop will be held in the Staggs Community Room and participants will receive assistance with preparation of lineage applications to any patriotic or lineage society (women and men). Attendees will have an hour for independent lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
“Anyone interested in joining a lineage society is invited to participate,” said Mary Kokot, Adult Services Coordinator. “Bring any genealogical and family history materials you have, such as birth, death, and marriage certificates, Bible records, land records, etc. If in doubt, bring it along. Handouts and worksheets will be provided and assistants will be available to help you prepare your lineage papers.”
The workshop is taught by Professional Genealogist Johnnie Jo Sowell Dickenson and is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution Mary Martin Elmore Scott Chapter and Huntsville Public Library. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. To attend the workshop and receive the handouts and worksheets, interested parties can register at the library.
