The City Council seats for At-large Positions 1-4 will be on the November 8, 2016 general election ballot. Filing for the positions ran from July 23, 2016 to August 22, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the office of the City Secretary.
Seven citizens have filed to run on the ballot (in order of filing):
- Position One - Paul Davidhizar
- Position Two - Tyler McCaffety and Matt Hannes
- Position Three - Clyde Loll and Mader Hedspetch
- Position Four - Keith D. Olson and Scott Hornung
Drawing for ballot order will be held in the large conference room at City Hall on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 8:00 a.m.
Candidate packets for the 2016 City of Huntsville General Election are available through the office of the City Secretary at City Hall, 1212 Avenue M, or on the City web site at http://www.huntsvilletx.gov/Elections. Candidates may formally declare as write-in candidates (per the Texas Election Code) through 5 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016. Named or write-in candidates may withdraw through 5 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016.
The City of Huntsville application fee is one dollar, per City Charter mandate. City Secretary Lee Woodward acknowledged members of the public may have questions about the responsibilities of Councilmembers.
