When Huntsville residents wake up Friday morning, they will have two new favorite web sites to check. The City of Huntsville's main site at www.huntsvilletx.gov and the City's Tourism and Cultural Services Department site at www.huntsvilletexas.com will make the switch Thursday evening, June 25.
The web sites just underwent a redesign process by CivicPlus, the leading government web site provider. The web site now has increased functionality, as well as a cleaner, easier layout. Chris Vasquez, City IT Director, said the new sites will keep the services and features they have now, but will be easier to navigate and updated in real time to better serve residents.
"This is a great opportunity to get to know what services you can handle with the City online," noted Vasquez. "Main buttons placed prominently on the home page and accessible from all interior pages link to online payments, subscriptions and notifications, mapping tools, and video, just to name a few. With the new web sites, the City of Huntsville will be able to increase community engagement and enhance interaction between residents and their government."
The Tourism web site offers improved sample itineraries and a trip planner, as well as a way for event planners to submit items for inclusion on the Tourism calendar.
As noted above, both sites will keep their main web addresses. Bookmarks to interior pages, however, should be reset after the launch.
