Construction Notice – Upcoming Waterline Replacement Projects along 11th Street and Sam Houston Avenue
The City of Huntsville is ready to begin two waterline replacement projects along 11th Street and Sam Houston Avenue:
1) The project segment along 11th Street is between IH 45 and University Avenue. This project construction is scheduled to begin early April 2017 and expected to complete by mid-August 2017.
2) The project segment along Sam Houston Avenue is between 11th Street and 22nd Streets
This project construction is scheduled to begin early May 2017 and expected to complete by mid-October 2017.
Please see the attached map for the project limits. The constructions mainly involve the installation of new 12” waterline along both project segments. There will be lane closures at any given time throughout the construction period, however, traffic movement will be maintained in both directions at all times. Lane closures will be mainly limited to one outside lane. Please heed workers, equipment, warning signs, barricades, and directional signs that will be present during construction.
Your safety and the safety of workers is of primary importance during this project. The City wishes to thank you for your cooperation and patience and apologizes for any inconvenience which you may incur during construction. The City and the contractor will jointly strive to keep the inconveniences to the very minimum. While through traffic is not expected to be impeded, please consider alternate routes, where possible, during peak traffic times in order to avoid delays during the period of construction.
During construction, there will be water outages to businesses and residences in the vicinity of these project segments as water service is transferred to the new waterline. Notification of water outages will be given at least 24 hours in advance. The duration of water outages typically varies from 4 to 6 hours.
