The lights have been out at the Sam Houston Statue and inquiring minds want to know why.
Seen anything missing on the edge of town lately? That’s right, the spotlights on “Big Sam” have been out due to a line that was cut during construction of the expansion of the Visitors Center. The lights will be out until further notice. Kimm Thomas, City Director of Tourism and Cultural Services, has been hearing lots about the outages.“It is our hope that the situation will be corrected within the next couple of weeks,” Thomas said. “I appreciate the calls, emails, and texts from visitors and the local community expressing their concern.”So don’t worry, A Tribute to Courage should be a beacon to all again soon!
