As part of the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), the City has the opportunity to make nominations to certain committees. At this time, the City has an open position on the H-GAC Solid Waste Management Council for a Citizen/Environmental Group representative. H-GAC says the board and its member local governments advise the Council (the H-GAC Council, that is, or CoG, as H-GAC is a state-prescribed Council of Government) on solid waste management issues. (For the H-GAC position - On the online application, select the box for Other in the list of boards and commissions and note H-GAC Solid Waste Committee in the Additional Background Information section.) Meetings of the committee are held in Houston at the H-GAC offices, and there is no salary or compensation for serving on the committee.
