It’s time to load up the kids, take a ride around Huntsville and look at all the Christmas lights. The City of Huntsville Parks and Leisure Department has lit up John Henry Rather Park, located at 1221 University Avenue. The park makes for a wonderful backdrop to take those last-minute holiday family photos and is free for all residents to enjoy.
Parks and Leisure Director Joseph Wiggs said this is the second year with even more cheer and decorations added to the park.
“We would like to invite residents to stop by, enjoy the lights and capture the spirit of Christmas,” Wiggs said.
The display will remain up until after New Year. The park hours end at 10 p.m. daily, and pets must be on leashes.
The Parks and Leisure Department oversees the maintenance and upkeep overall City-owned parks, including Eastham-Thomason Park, Kate Barr Ross Park, and Emancipation Park, as well as several neighborhood parks throughout the community.
