The Huntsville City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at City Hall, 1212 Avenue M, for a regular meeting. Among the agenda items, there will be seven public hearings on proposed annexation areas. The public will be allowed to speak during the hearings.
Also on the agenda, the council will consider calling the November 5, 2019 election for at-large Mayor and four Ward Councilmembers. There are three councilmembers terming out, meaning they can no longer hold the current position. Those include Ward 1 Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem Joe Emmett, Ward 2 Councilmember Tish Humphrey, and Ward 3 Councilmember Ronald Allen. Ward 4 Councilmember Joe Rodriguez and Mayor Andy Brauninger are eligible to run for office, as their term limits have not been met. The council is also expected to approve the Joint Election Agreement with the Walker County Tax Assessors office, including the use of new voting technology.
Council will also hear about an ordinance concerning Shared Mobility Devices.
