2017 Strategic Plan
The Huntsville City Council met on January 5, 2017, to create a new strategic plan to set the course for the City for the year. The updated strategic plan is a flexible document that will be periodically reviewed for updates. The City Council established seven broad areas of strategic initiatives aimed to address all quality of life issues in Huntsville, with key objectives for implementation included. Current Street Closures
The following streets are closed as part of an ongoing milling and overlay project. Plan for delays in the work areas.
- Avenue R from 19th Street to North Dead End- Closure scheduled for February 20
- El Toro Drive from Sam Houston Avenue to the end of the street - Closure scheduled for February 27
Each section of work is scheduled to last for 2 - 3 days, weather conditions may delay the construction. If you have any questions, please contact the Street Division at 936-294-5700.
Spring Vegetable Gardening
Huntsville Public Library is pleased to host the Walker County Master Gardeners “Spring Vegetable Gardening” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 7, in the Library’s Community Room. The Master Gardeners will discuss weed control and insect management with an emphasis on tomato varieties well-suited to our area that are proven winners. Door prizes will be awarded. Register here! Wynne Home Spring Art Classes
Spring 2017 Session of Art Classes will begin on March 27. Information about class offerings and registration will be available in early March and you will find it
here. The yearly Arts Education Calendar includes a five or six week Spring Session of Classes, a two or three week Summer Session of Classes with a focus on Art Camp for ages 6-13, and a five or six week Fall Session of Classes. All sessions include class offerings for kids, teens, and adults.
