  1. Free Adult Literacy Tutoring

    Free walk-in tutoring sessions are available at the Huntsville Public Library for adults (18+ years old). This tutoring program helps with English reading, writing, and speaking skills and preparation for the GED® (high school equivalency test). Walk-in tutoring sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment required for sessions Monday through Friday. Saturday by appointment only.

  2. Story Time

    Story Time is a fun early literacy program for kids 5 and under at the Huntsville Public Library. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts three times a week in the Staggs Community Room. The early literacy practices featured each week help build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. Story Time offers caregivers and parents an opportunity to experience early literacy practices in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents after Story Time. There is something new each week! Sign-up is not required. Story Time is held on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday mornings, and Friday mornings.

    If your family tree is missing some branches, then sign up for “Exploring Ancestry.com”, a workshop devoted to teaching the basics of this online family history resource. The workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. The next class will be on Friday, January 3. Develop the skill sets needed for online genealogical research. Learn how to navigate the different learning centers and databases. Discover family tree members using Ancestry.com tools such as vital, census, military, and immigration records. The site is free to library patrons when used on the library’s computers. Limit 4 per session. This program is for adults 17 and older.

  1. Glazing Empty Bowls

    The Wynne Home Arts & Visitor Center is looking for volunteers to help make bowls for the annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser, held on February 25, 2020. No previous potter experience is necessary to attend the bowl making sessions. Volunteers are encouraged to stay at least an hour in order to complete a bowl.
