Get fit while you sit with Sittercise! Everybody’s favorite exercise program is being offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic illnesses. Sittercise focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older. Class is limited to 25 so social distancing can be maintained.

Visiting all the way from Europe, historical fiction writer Barbara Ortwein will be at Huntsville Public Library to discuss her Texas trilogy on Thursday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m. The trilogy, which includes Between Worlds, Never to Return; In the Heart of Texas, But Not Yet at Home; and At Journey’s End: Texans Forever!, tells the story of the fictional Engelbach family of Hesse and their German compatriots’ emigration to the Texas Hill Country. Ortwein weaves these fictional characters into the story of the actual people involved in the historical emigration and settlement of the area. During her presentation, she will lead the audience in a sing-along, with her guitar accompaniment, of German and English songs relevant to her books’ themes.

The Dennis Hickman exhibit will be open and free to the public starting with the opening reception on September 30th at 5-7PM. It will be available until January 8th, 2023 on Tuesdays-Fridays from 10AM-5PM and Saturdays from 10AM-2PM.
