    Come to Story Time, a fun early literacy program for kids six and under. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. The early literacy practices featured each week help build a foundation for the lifelong love of reading and learning. For parents and caregivers, Story Time offers an opportunity to experience early literacy strategies in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents afterward. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday sessions all share a theme with something new and exciting each week. Sign up is not required. Story Time is held Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:45 a.m. in the Staggs Community Room.

  2. Kids Yoga

    Beat the heat and try a new activity! Come to Huntsville Public Library for a special “Kids Yoga” class at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 8 and July 15 in the Staggs Community Room. This program is best suited for ages 5 to 9 and will feature simple yoga moves, breathing exercises, and books about yoga. Children who participate should bring their own mat and must be accompanied by an adult. Liability waivers must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and are available from the instructor. Registration is not required.

    Teens, are you looking for something fun to do this summer? Come to the Young Adult Book Club at Huntsville Public Library. Whether you like stories of adventure or just relatable stories about other teens, there will be something for you! At book clubs, we’ll do fun crafts and activities related to the books we’ll read. Young Adult Book Club is best suited for ages 14 to 18 and will meet at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 15 and 29. Selections will include Hani and Ishu's Guide to Fake Dating and Iron Widow. Didn’t read the book? Come anyway!

  4. Beginner Guitar Lessons

    Received a guitar as a gift and just haven’t had the time to start learning how to play? Bought one a while back and just can’t bring yourself to get started playing? Huntsville Public Library is now offering free beginner guitar lessons twice a month on the first and third Friday from 5 - 6 p.m. During July the classes will take place on Friday, July 1 and Friday July 15. These classes will cover the parts of the guitar, strumming, how to use a guitar pick, and basic open-position chords. Lesson plans can be adjusted to accommodate more intermediate players. Participants must complete the online registration at myhuntsvillelibrary.com and bring their own guitar and pick to the class.
