Come to Story Time - a fun, early literacy program for kids six and under. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. The early literacy practices featured each week help build a foundation for the lifelong love of reading and learning. For parents and caregivers, Story Time offers an opportunity to experience early literacy strategies in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents afterward. Wednesday and Friday sessions share a theme with something new and exciting each week. Registration is not required. Story Time is now offered on select Saturdays at 10:45 a.m. Join us on Saturday. For more information, please contact Children’s Coordinator Linda Huff at 936-291-5910.

The Walker County Genealogy Society is hosting a writing group on the third Wednesday of each month at the Huntsville Public Library. The purpose of the group is to document family stories before they are forgotten. The group will meet from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Johnnie Jo Sowell Genealogy Room and will use the time to write, discuss, and/or help each other. The group is free and open to everyone, not just genealogists. Everyone has a story and knowing family stories helps emotional well-being for all ages. Be a part of the group and provide your grandchildren with a past of family stories that they may take into the future. For more information, contact Adult Services Coordinator Mary Kokot at 936-291-5471.
