Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park was named after a former dedicated employee who served the City of Huntsville for over 40 years. Kate Barr Ross mainly served in the capacity as City Secretary, but also held the position of City Comptroller. She retired as City Secretary in September of 1966.
While celebrating the bicentennial at the park on Sunday, July 4, 1976, the City of Huntsville renamed the former Bicentennial Park to the Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in her honor.
