On August 26, at approximately 12:37 am Detectives with the Huntsville Police Department and the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force located Tiezevion Lazaro Matthews in an apartment in Huntsville. The investigation is ongoing.

On August 24, 2021, at approximately 7:13 pm, the Huntsville Police Department was called to assist a shooting victim. The initial investigation indicates that the victim was a passenger in an automobile traveling in the area of MLK and Thomason St. Suspect(s) fired numerous rounds into the vehicle, with at least one round striking the victim. The driver of the victim’s vehicle then drove to the area of Eastham Thomason Park and called the police. Officers with the Huntsville Police Department responded to the area and located a 16-year-old juvenile victim who had been shot. Huntsville Police Department Officers immediately began administering first aid, until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation is very fluid and Huntsville Police Detectives are following up on numerous leads. Chief Lunsford said “I would like to thank the numerous community members who have reached out during this difficult time. Officers from many agencies have worked nearly non-stop since this tragedy occurred. I appreciate each and everyone for their tireless efforts”
