HUNTSVILLE – Beginning this evening, northbound traffic on IH 45 will be moved onto newly paved concrete just north of SH 30. This will require a temporary lane closure beginning 8 p.m. Monday, April 7, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 8. Additionally, the new IH 45 northbound entrance ramp between Crosstimbers Street and Eastham Drive will be opened.
Message boards will be placed along the route to advise drivers of the new traffic pattern.
This is part of the $200 million reconstruction of IH 45 that involves replacing the four-lane freeway with a six-lane freeway with concrete media in Walker County. The project is anticipated to be completed in fall 2027.
