On Monday, 09/19/16, officers with the Huntsville Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious incident near the intersection of FM 247 at Grivich Drive. Upon investigation the officers located the skeletal remains of an as yet unidentified person.

Detectives were called to the scene and, with the assistance of the Texas Rangers, began a more in depth investigation. Investigators remained at the scene into the evening hours and returned today to continue the investigation. The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide and efforts are being made to identify the victim.

Chief Kevin Lunsford is requesting the community assist in this investigation, “We ask that anyone who has information regarding this incident or is aware of a person missing to come forward. We would appreciate any information that assists in identifying the victim or in the investigation of the homicide.”
