  2. Teen Ambassadors

    Teen Ambassadors is a program for teens who want to be leaders. Ambassadors earn service hours and help to lead and design programs. Ambassadors can also work in the Children’s Room, read to children, and assist patrons. This program accommodates several different interests. Applications are required for those interested in joining. Ambassadors meet weekly on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. September dates are September 5, 12, 19, and 26. This program is suggested for ages 11-18.

    Too many weeds in your yard? How about eating them! That’s what foragers do. It’s surprising how many plants, including those we call weeds, are edible. Forager Mark Merriwether Vorderbruggen will present “Edible Weeds” at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26 at Huntsville Public Library. Vorderbruggen, a petroleum chemist, author, and educator of all things in the foraging world, has the experience and knowledge to provide the dos and don'ts of foraging.

    Looking for company while your hands are busy with yarn or textiles? Join the fiber arts group at Huntsville Public Library to share your knitting and crocheting projects and hang out for some chat. All are welcome – beginners and the more experienced! Sessions are held each Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Meetings this month will be on September 6, 13,20 and 27. Supplies not provided.     Come to Story Time - a fun, early literacy program for kids six and under. Join us for interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. The early literacy practices featured each week help build a foundation for the lifelong love of reading and learning. For parents and caregivers, Story Time offers an opportunity to experience early literacy strategies in action, discover great books and resources for home use, and socialize with other parents afterward. Wednesday and Friday sessions share a theme with something new and exciting each week. Registration is not required. Story Time is now offered on select Saturdays at 10:45 a.m. Join us on Saturday.
