    The Walker County Genealogical Society, in collaboration with Huntsville Public Library, will present “Beginning Genealogy” on Tuesday, October 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Dickenson Genealogy Room. Although this is a beginner-level offering, researchers of all levels are invited and will learn different and new techniques of researching, including how to access many different genealogy websites. WCGS member Emmy Bushman will demonstrate how to set up individual Family Group Sheets and Five-Generation Ancestor Charts. Be sure to bring with you all information on your grandparents and great-grandparents, including birth and death dates.

    Wagging tails plus happy readers! Come to “Book a Dog,” a literacy initiative held in collaboration with Pets with a Mission and Huntsville Public Library. This program will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5 in the Rex Children’s Room of Huntsville Public Library. Two animal teams from “Pets with a Mission'' will be at the Library for quick one-on-one reading sessions with trained therapy dogs. This program is best suited for ages 5 to 12. No sign-up is required as the dogs will be available on a first come, first served basis for one hour. Signed waiver forms are required to participate.

  27. 3D Printing Classes for Teens

    Ever wondered how 3D printing works? Want to take a crack at making your own 3D model? Huntsville Public Library is offering two 3D printing classes during the month of October. Participants will learn to make a 3D model in Tinkercad and their model will be printed by library staff. Staff will notify participants via phone and/or email when their print is ready to pick up. A teen 3D printing class for ages 12-17 will take place in the Rex Children’s room on Monday, October 17 from 5-6 pm. A 3D printing class for patrons 18 and over will be offered in the Adult Computer Lab on Friday, October 21 from 5-6 pm.

  41. 3D Printing Classes for Adults

    Ever wondered how 3D printing works? Want to take a crack at making your own 3D model? Huntsville Public Library is offering two 3D printing classes during the month of October. Participants will learn to make a 3D model in Tinkercad and their model will be printed by library staff. Staff will notify participants via phone and/or email when their print is ready to pick up. A teen 3D printing class for ages 12-17 will take place in the Rex Children’s room on Monday, October 17 from 5-6 pm. A 3D printing class for patrons 18 and over will be offered in the Adult Computer Lab on Friday, October 21 from 5-6 pm.

Everybody’s favorite exercise program is being offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic illnesses. Sittercise focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older. Class is limited to 25 so social distancing can be maintained.
