Everybody’s favorite exercise program is being offered from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Huntsville Public Library in conjunction with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Sittercise is designed to help those who are aging and/or dealing with chronic illnesses. Sittercise focuses on strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and overall improved function. Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Liability waivers are required to participate and are available from the instructor. The class is free and open to adults ages 18 and older. Class is limited to 25 so social distancing can be maintained.

Canva is a free online graphic design tool, which allows you to quickly create eye-catching content. Come learn this user-friendly tool at Huntsville Public Library from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7 and 5 to 6 p.m on Thursday, December 8 in the Monday Computer Room. This FREE two day course will introduce the basic tools used in design, the strategic use of color and font, how to make the best of layouts, and advanced tips to expedite your design process. This program is for adults 18 years or older and a library card is required to attend the class.

  4. Book a Dog: Reading with ‘Pets with a Mission’

    Wagging tails plus happy readers! Come to “Book a Dog,” a literacy initiative held in collaboration with Pets with a Mission and Huntsville Public Library. This program will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7 in the Rex Children’s Room of Huntsville Public Library. Two animal teams from “Pets with a Mission'' will be at the Library for quick one-on-one reading sessions with trained therapy dogs. This program is best suited for ages 5 to 12. No sign-up is required as the dogs will be available on a first come, first served basis for one hour. Signed waiver forms are required to participate.

  5. Dungeons and Dragons: Create a World of Magic!

    Once upon a time, there was a band of loyal misfits who came together despite their differences to achieve an important goal. What was that goal? Who were those misfits? That’s up to you! D and D is a game that allows players to create their own characters and embark on an adventure they write together. But one thing’s for sure–there will be magic, dragons, monsters, and more fun than you can imagine at Huntsville Public Library! D and D also builds creativity, writing skills, and teamwork. This group will meet at 5 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Teens 14-18 are welcome! No prior experience is necessary!

    Be part of the Piney Woods Page Turners Book Club at the Huntsville Public Library. All interested persons are welcome to join in person or virtually. The in-person meeting will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on second Thursday of each month in the Nash Board Room. You may join via Zoom at the same time. Current and future book choices can be found at www.myhuntsvillelibrary.com. Book Clubs are an excellent way to enjoy books, challenge one’s mind, and socialize with other book lovers! They can also encourage one to read more often, or to read books one might not otherwise choose. We have fun reading a wide variety of books, making friends, meeting like-minded people, and stimulating the brain cells!
