Solid Waste/Recycling

Services

The Solid Waste Disposal Division operates the Solid Waste Transfer Station, which is the collection point for all municipal waste for the City, TDCJ, SHSU, and other areas throughout Walker County. It is then transported to the Security Landfill in Montgomery County. Other divisions include:

• Commercial Collection Division - Provides services for commercial customers through the use of dumpsters, open top roll off containers and compacting roll off containers.
• Residential Collection Division - Provides curbside garbage service to residential customers once per week. Yard Waste and Heavy Trash collection is provided according to schedule. 
• Recycling Division - Provides curbside recycling service to residential customers once per week.  Encourages citizens to minimize waste through recycling and education programs such as the annual Electronic Recycling event and partnerships with other organizations in Walker County. Upon request The City of Huntsville will provide each active utility account with a BLUE recycling cart.
