Dumpster Tips-

All garbage needs to be bagged before being placed inside containers. The lids of the dumpsters must close, please do not overload.  This ensures that animals will not have access to the garbage inside of the dumpster. It will also keep rain water out of the dumpster.

Do not throw hot coals in the dumpster, it will catch on fire!

Do not stack items in front of the dumpster, we will not be able to empty it for you.

Did you know......

  • The Commercial Front End Trucks empty over 1,300 dumpsters a week.
  • The commercial division works on every holiday except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
  • Commercial Front End Load trucks weigh over 17,000 pounds
  • You can rent a roll off container for your home remodeling debris.

Commercial Container Repair, Replacement or Extra Pickups

If you have a dumpster that has damaged or missing lids, please contact the Solid Waste and Recycling Department at 936-294-5712, or e-mail solidwastedisposalemail@huntsvilletx.gov to report this issue.  If your dumpster has any other damage, such as holes in the bottom, please let this department know and a new dumpster will be issued.

There is no related fee for container repairs; however, there is a fee assessed to the customer's utility bill if a container is burned or if the customer requests that a container be cleaned and / or painted.

Additional Fees

There will be a fee assessed to the customer's utility bill for each additional dump that is not on the regular pickup schedule. If a container cannot be dumped due to a large item (furniture, mattresses, lumber, construction materials, etc.) and the customer removes the large item and requests a dump, a fee will be assessed to the customer's utility bill to return to the location.

If a container is blocked by vehicles or other materials, the container will not be dumped. A fee will be assessed to the customer's utility bill if the customer requests a return trip to dump the container after the vehicles or materials have been removed by the customer.

Dumpsters are turned completely upside down when being dumped. All loose garbage will come out unless items are wedged inside the dumpster. Customers are responsible for insuring all items placed inside the dumpster remain loose and are not compacted or hinder dumping in any way. If the driver has to return to the site for additional dumping, there will be a fee assessed to the customer's utility bill in accordance with the fee schedule.

There will be an additional fee for Tires and Liquid waste found in the dumpster.

The Weld Shop

The Commercial Division has it's own weld shop to make repairs to dumpsters and roll offs.  This is how all dumpsters get new bottoms welded on after they have rusted out, and then they are repainted before they are set back out at a business.

This department has a specialized truck that can go out and pick up and deliver a dumpster to a location.  This is how we pick up a dumpster to make repairs, or deliver new dumpsters to a new business.

This truck is also used when a dumpster has an item in it that the Front End Load truck can not allow in it's hopper.  (See the top of this page for a list of examples of the types of items not allowed in a dumpster.)  If the owner of the business that the dumpster is set at is unable to remove the item from the dumpster themselves, this truck can be sent out to pick up the dumpster to bring it to our facility to empty it for a fee.
